Growing up, Susan wanted to do things in life: write and figure skate. By the time she was in high school, she was writing for the local Phoenix newspaper, but it took two years of begging before her parents relented on figure skating lessons.

She toured professionally as a skater before moving on to coach skating for 13 years. Using her experience as a skater, Susan launched her writing career by working as a managing editor for a skating magazine and publishing fitness and health articles in consumer publications.

Today she is the communications and development manager for a large public library in the Chicago area. She is active in the Chicago literary scene and has sat on the boards of the Chicago Writers Conference and Stories Matter Foundation.

She is a self-confessed late bloomer and an avid traveler, both of which have shaped her life and creativity.

"We are all strangers until we share our stories."
